INDIA’S MARCH FOR LIFE: CHENNAI 2026
Defending the Gospel of Life Through Prayer and Public Witness
The March for Life is the India’s largest March by Pro-lifers to advocate for the right of the unborn to live.
It is a powerful way for individuals and organizations to come together and show their support for the sanctity of life and the pro-life cause in India.
It is a visible and vocal reminder that every human life is valuable and deserving of protection, from conception to natural death.
Participants come from all walks of life, united in their commitment to defend the dignity and worth of every human being.

What is the March for Life?
The March for Life is a unified national movement dedicated to defending the sanctity of human life. It is a necessary spiritual and social response to a grave moral crisis.

It mobilizes the Christian faithful and people of goodwill to raise a unified voice against laws that threaten life. The March consists of a rally with keynote speakers and a March through the streets of a major city promoting the pro-life message.

Features inspiring speeches from pro-life leaders, activists, and advocates who share personal stories and insights on the importance of the cause.

The foundation is spiritual reparation for the sins committed against life through prayer, fasting, and the Eucharistic Procession.

Commemoration Date
The March is held annually around August 10th to commemorate the children lost to abortion since its legalization in India through the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act of 1971, honoring their memory through prayer and public witness.
The Crisis
The advocacy directly challenges the MTP Act and highlights the staggering statistic of over 1.56 Crore children victimized by abortion annually in India.
Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore
The Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore, as the host diocese, established the spiritual foundation for the 2026 March by launching a year-long campaign anchored in prayer:
- The Launch: On November 2nd, 2025 (All Souls’ Day), the National Day of Remembrance for the Unborn was observed across all 130 parishes of the Archdiocese.
- Spiritual Initiatives: This involved offering Special Mass Intentions for reparation, delivering a focused homily on the sin of abortion, tolling a funeral bell after Holy Communion, and displaying symbolic white coffin memorials and pro-life banners throughout November.
- Mobilization: This unified spiritual launch secured a mandate for prayer and action across the entire diocesan community.
