About us
The international service organism for all expressions of the CCR is the Catholic Charismatic Renewal International Service (CHARIS). The CHARIS service is subordinate to the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life. It is a direct initiative of Pope Francis.
The purpose of CHARIS is to promote and strengthen communion among all expressions of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, as well as promoting and working for unity among all Christians. CHARIS has a “public juridic personality” within the Church.
The Madras Service of Communion (MSC) represents CHARIS in Chennai. The MSC is a discerned team of servant leaders that works to renew the grace of Pentecost in the life and mission of the Catholic Church in the archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore.
Our mission
“To help deepen and promote the grace of baptism in the Holy Spirit throughout the Church and to promote the exercise of charisms not only in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal but also in the whole Church.”
Our services
The MSC is at the service of all realities within the CCR, and is available to serve and assist lay people, bishops, and priests who request its help. Our permanent services are:
Communion & information
Ensuring communication with and between the national and continental services, and with and among all realities within Catholic Charismatic Renewal (prayer groups, communities, networks, schools of evangelisation, religious institutes, publishing houses and ministries)
Formation & training
Meeting the training and formation needs expressed by the General Assembly or by other realities, inspired by the living experience of people and groups within the CCR. We organise retreats, rallies, conventions, and other programmes for this purpose.
Advice
Through a Doctrinal and Canonical Commission. We coordinate with prayer groups, local communities, and other expressions of the CCR to help promote the renewal experience throughout our archdiocese.
